I appreciate FSJ because I'm a Filipino and I can relate to his stories. I've recently read My Brother, My Executioner by F. Sionil Jose and I didn't like it. I've read three of his novels (My Brother, My Executioner; Mass; and The Pretenders) and some of his essays. I think his essays are better than his novels. Anyway, among his novels I like The Pretenders best. I also like Mass; but I think it needs editing. There were redundant passages.
